Preliminary Task - Development - Drafts of Contents Page

These are my drafts of School magazine contents pages that appealed to different target audiences. I used my evaluation of existing contents pages to get an idea of layout designs. I then used the aspects that improved the magazines impact and helped meet its purpose in my designs.



I have created these drafts using the furniture and codes and conventions from the existing contents pages, which I evaluated, that improved that magazines impact. Furniture and codes and conventions that improved its impact towards the audience includes, using pictures to make the page look more attractive, which encourages the audience to look through the magazine. I would improve the drafts by filling some dead space, which would improve the magazines style and purpose. A recurring colour motif that I have used is blue, I have used this colour because blue is part of the school colour scheme.        

Preliminary Task - Development - Drafts of Front Covers

These are my drafts of school magazine front covers. I created these drafts after my analyses of existing school front covers. I evaluated what aspects of the front covers appealed to the target audience and used these aspects in my own drafts.



These are the three drafts that I believe appeal to the target audience. The codes and conventions that I followed from my previous research include the mast-head across the top of the page. For the title I will use the font style ‘Acton Force,’ I selected this font because it stands out, which will attract the audience. The font style for the lure, tag lines etc have not be selected yet, I am going to chose the font that is most suitable when creating the magazine.

Preliminary Task - Research - Analysis of Magazine Contents

I anaylised three contents pages from various magazines. I focused on what codes and conventions and aspects of the page lured the audience in.



After looking at the three school magazines I identified the codes and conventions of a school magazine. Analysing the front covers of the magazine has enabled me to identify the common features of a school magazine, which has allowed me to further develop the design of my front cover. Where I will use some of the codes and conventions that I have identified, such as the mast-head being at the top of the page and the key image taking up most of the page.

Preliminary Task - Research - Analysis of Magazine Covers

 This blog shows my analysis of three magazine covers. The analysis focuses on audience, identifying the aspects that will attract them and signifiers which help the audience to whom the magazine is targeted.
